The original design was for use in the bedroom of the Tugendhat house in BRNO, Czech Republic. The modern design of the chair features lines that are clean, sleek and simple. Mies created the chair after similar styles that he had previously created with Lilly Reich such as the MR20 chair designed in 1927 that featured a wicker seat. The original BRNO chair featured a solid stainless steel metal frame. The BRNO Chair model number MR50 was upholstered in 100% full grain aniline leather.
